Chapter 01: An Unexpected Mission - 15

OMG! It's a new page! Well, okay, I finished this some time ago, but then made some corrections, some changes, etc. I still don't know if I'm happy with it. The downsizing killed the quality a bit. Next page will be awesome when I finish it, though :D

Pumpshire Pumidło jumps on the meme bandwagon!
Thanks to Biggie for finding the track for me.

My program totally ravaged the quality of the animation and also the colours a little, but it still looks OK. First time I've seriously animated something, by the way and it was very time-consuming but also very rewarding!

The first, bigger image is the base animation frames and the movie right under it is the properly edited version with music that I posted on my YouTube account. Enjoy!

"You should make a drawing of you summoning a giant, fire-breathing chinchilla," he said.

And so I did, it just doesn't breathe fire ;)

Miscellaneous Art: The Power of the Dragon God

Description/Comments

A symbolic drawing representing Pumidło as a proud member of her clan. The Dragon God is the guardian of the Pumpshire family, hence the dragon in the background (and the dragon-style kung fu pose of the nekonin).

Gel ballpen, crayons and a marker.

Description/Comments

There were a few different versions of Pumidło's ultimate clothes (i.e. after she comes to awaken the ultimate stage of the Akumagan) and finally I decided this set was the best as it includes all characteristic traits of her persona - green colour of her previous clothes, black parts that are an allusion to a jacket I have in real life, the symbols of her clan and of course the lightning pattern on the sleves.

Simple markers and some watercolours

More spoilers!

September 15th, Kakashi's birthday. Pumidlo shows Kakashi that she's no longer the weak cub she used to be in the past by taking the two memorable bells from him without him even noticing.

Happy birthday, shishou! ^^

Spoilers!

September 14th, my (and of course Pumidło's) birthday. I'm not entirely sure yet why Kakashi would show Pumidło the bells while training her since it's a teamwork-testing exercise, but it was relevant to the bigger idea of the two birthday pieces.

I was bored while waiting for the new Naruto chapter. The funny thing is I noticed the homonym pun only after a while into the drawing.

The sides on which Pumidło has the stripes and bandages on her pants are actually swapped due to my own error. Also, originally she was supposed to have a clover pattern on the t-shirt, but I eventually dropped that idea.

This time in Polish, because the Polish dubbing is worse than HORRIBLE. The orographic mistakes were made on purpose just to show how dumb and retarded they all sound. Sheesh...

Original description from deviantArt: This is not part of the one deviation per week plan. It was done as a result of an overflow of emotions. I was simply pissed and sad at the same time.

First of all, I am a terrible and helpless spoilsport. A week ago Zgred2, a more or less regular reader of the Naruto manga, was whining about what had happened in the latest chapters. I asked him why, but he didn't want to tell me anything. And I didn't bother to ask again. For a while at least. During a chat at the philharmonics I finally gave in to initial curiosity. It's then that I learned Jiraya and Asuma had been killed, although surprised, I took the news more or less calmly (by my standards). But the revelation from the then-latest chapter about Kakashi-sensei's apparent death struck me a great deal more.

Why?...

So then yesterday I succumbed to the temptation of reading the three latest chapters. And then it finally hit me. It seems like everything's wrapped up. So it seems. I was pissed off and sad, and I still am, although now there's more sadness in me than anger. After all, one's got a right to fly off the handle when their favourite character of a particular manga gets killed off...

All that is left is to wait for another chapter, and another, and another, if need be. And see. Tsunade ex machina... please? (Phoenix Down for Kakashi-sensei anyone?) He might be in a near-death state, you know. (Oh, the mother of fools.)

Another thing is that I've been listening over and over again to Parade by Chaba, the song that is in the twelfth ending of the Naruto anime. It warms my heart, but simultaneously makes me feel tearful. I decided to include some of its lyrics in the picture. Here they are translated into English (no, I don't know Japanese, I found the translation):

The wind blows and it hurts, my love won’t go away
What should I take with me? There’s only one
It’ll never come again, never come again, it’d be stupid to throw it away
That innocent image
Surely won’t end…

Set your heart in love on fire, cross through a thousand dreams
Run right and left, through the world you hold in your hand
The clouds scatter and the sun goes down again
And the one-person parade begins to move
An adventure, a lucky day, heartbeat rising, light and darkness, an encounter, life, mutual love

There’s a night everyone’s waiting for, deep in their pockets
I hope you’ve found someone who lights you up, swims to you when you hold out your arms
With the same scenery as you...

Call me a fruitcake, but I really love and am attached to my favourite fictional characters. Somehow, they're a part of me. That's why it hurts so often, but you can't help it. That's just the way it is.

I'd like this to prove an early mourning, but we all know that most mangakas don't experience a sudden change of heart too often.

Sigh... I guess I needed to spill some of it out. I feel a little better now. I wonder what it was that I couldn't sleep yesterday - too much emotion or too much coffee?

Techniques: Pumpshire Pumidło - Raiton: Raiken (2011 Revised Digital)

Description/Comments

The digital, revised version of the traditional drawing of the same title back from April 2009. The whole thing didn't take too long, only around 4 hours of peaceful work at night, however I did have a moment when I thought I'd start climbing walls towardsthe half mark of drawing the lightning. It was a good exercise as I wasn't sure how I would draw it as I've never attempted drawing lightning before. At least now it doesn't look so much like an icicle as it did during the drawing process... >.>

As a curiosity, I eventually decided to upload the recording of the W.I.P. to YouTube. However, instead of the intended 5 parts there can only be 4, because of my own stupidity while trying to rid the 3rd part of bugs, where in the end I lost the whole video. But the good news is only a small portion of the work was lost (to the onlooker of course, in real time it was something around an hour or so of work). Embedding the videos here, so watch if you've got the patience and/or are interested. Enjoy!

Techniques: Pumpshire Pumidło - Raiton: Raiken (Traditional)

Description/Comments

Pumidło takes Raikiri, a technique she once picked up from Hatake Kakashi, to an entirely different level.

I started working on this piece straight after I finished Biggie's Katon: Rasengan (so as far back as 2009), however this time I wanted to try out colouring it with markers instead of watercolours, which proved a great problem in the end because it didn't quite look the way I'd wanted it to. Ever since then I was abandoning this drawing after spells of trying to finish it and only recently did I finally decide to leave it as it is.

At that time, Junko said, 'Oh, I think I'm going to lose sight of you...'

...Huh? Oh, yeah! Here's another page I finished, from what I can see now, yesterday, but forgot to upload.

Mangetsu's basically got two books - one she uses because she has to, the other she carries, because... well, b e c a u s e. You'll see. And she also remembers some things, both pleasant and bitter.

Anyway, I don't know Japanese, so anyone who does, could you please tell me whether the signs on the book can stay the way they are or whether they're such an eyesore that I should correct them, thank you!

Update: Unified the format; removed the kanji on the book cover until I get it done properly :3; looks crappy as hell in the new format, I'll have to watch out next time.

Update 2: Changed the text font, edited some dialogue (monologue, to be honest...) and speech bubbles, and made it bigger! Rejoice!
